Wooly Critters

I am ready to update my wooly critters project. This is my first attempt at wool appliqué on flannel. Lots of hand stitching. All twelve blocks are done and I have started the sashing. I followed the 3 dimensional option in applying the shapes and love each block.
A couple of favorites!

Field trip

Tomorrow we are going to see the Civil War collection quilts at the NY Historical society and then to Grand Central  to see the  anniversary quilts. We will finish it off with a visit to the City Quilter. Tuesday was our last continuing ed quilt class. I tried to make the best of it by starting AND finishing this beach bag.
Lucille and Kim came in early to help.
Here is a  process shot.
The bag is made using pet screening, available online and in Home Depot. It uses about 1 yard of fabric and 5 yards of nylon handle material.

Love ending my posts with nature. Found this Robin nest in my yard!

I love a rainy day

We are having a lovely spring rain today and I have no errands! That means a sewing day. I have been to pick up all of my May BOMs and will spend today working on them. My sewing room could use a cleanup as well. We'll see. :) First updates on the rainbow Dresdens. I am using Aurifil nylon thread in the top needle with the tension set to zero and a tiny zigzag stitch.

They turned out great!

Putting the pieces together is like solving a puzzle.

Will sew the blocks together today. I already have two quilts at Galyna's for long arm quilting. I think I need to start machine quilting some of my own.
