Wooly Critters

I am ready to update my wooly critters project. This is my first attempt at wool appliqué on flannel. Lots of hand stitching. All twelve blocks are done and I have started the sashing. I followed the 3 dimensional option in applying the shapes and love each block.
A couple of favorites!

My newfie, Kelsey celebrated her 9th birthday!

Field trip

Tomorrow we are going to see the Civil War collection quilts at the NY Historical society and then to Grand Central  to see the  anniversary quilts. We will finish it off with a visit to the City Quilter. Tuesday was our last continuing ed quilt class. I tried to make the best of it by starting AND finishing this beach bag.
Lucille and Kim came in early to help.
Here is a  process shot.
The bag is made using pet screening, available online and in Home Depot. It uses about 1 yard of fabric and 5 yards of nylon handle material.

Love ending my posts with nature. Found this Robin nest in my yard!

I love a rainy day

We are having a lovely spring rain today and I have no errands! That means a sewing day. I have been to pick up all of my May BOMs and will spend today working on them. My sewing room could use a cleanup as well. We'll see. :) First updates on the rainbow Dresdens. I am using Aurifil nylon thread in the top needle with the tension set to zero and a tiny zigzag stitch.

They turned out great!

Putting the pieces together is like solving a puzzle.

Will sew the blocks together today. I already have two quilts at Galyna's for long arm quilting. I think I need to start machine quilting some of my own.

Dresden progress!

Did not get much sewing done this week but I did make progress on the Dresdens.

Will work on the bright orange centers today. Sometimes I have to face sewing obstacles.
This one's name is Storm.

Lancaster class

I put another label on a grandchild quilt today. Four completely done! My friends and I are waiting for our long arm quilter, Galyna, to return from the Ukraine. We have lots of work for her.

I started a lollipops quilt with Edyta Sitar in Lancaster this year and I am finally getting back to it. It seems like a long time ago but it was only last month.

Glad that I am up to date with all of my BOMs and I can play with this pretty batik Dresdens.

My friend Kim and I bought this kit in Lancaster. I have not taken it out of the package yet. This is Kim's. I don't think she sleeps. ;)

Beautiful weekend

Worked on the Fig Tree blocks and all seven for this month are done!
Added to the previous blocks, its really starting to come together.
As a reminder this was the inspiration quilt.
Here are some close ups.

There was also some time for this, even though it is still a bit cool.

Fig Tree Vintage BOM

These blocks are challenging for me. Bias edges and triangles. Yesterday's mail brought the next patterns. Seven blocks this month. This is the first one.
Before I start with these this morning, I thought I would calm myself with photos of two quilts ready for Galyna, my long arm quilter.

OK, I'm ready.

Back to Blocks of the Month

I know that I should always try to do the blocks as soon as I can after they are explained. This month that did not happen and I was a bit confused with lining up the block for Patchworks.
I think I need to take better notes next month although the block is fine.
As usual there are several finishing blocks each month.
I had less trouble with the Pieceful BOM but still need to appliqué the circles.
Today I hope to piece the Hobo blocks and add borders to my postage stamp quilt.
Always nice to end with a sweet photo of Kelsey.

Love opening my windows to Spring!

Even though I spent several days in Florida, I am glad to be back in Northport for the arrival of Spring. Finally! It was pretty down there though.
I tried to keep busy there doing my appliqués with Apliquick. We all loved this method when it was demonstrated in Lancaster in March. I am not experienced at appliqué and this method allows me to prepare the appliqués without burning my fingers on the iron. :)

Aren't these bunnies sweet?

These tulips aren't so bad either.

Goodbye March!

Although it is snowing today, I intend to focus on happy quilting projects! The first one up is my wool felt bluebird. Only one more block to go in this BOM. Its a cute little hedgehog that is fused and ready. My next package will have the borders and sashing which will also have flowers and leaves.

This is a postage stamp quilt on my ironing board and ready for borders.

And these cuties and called cuddle charms which are going to be stuffed and sewn into a rag quilt. Love the color!

Christmas Lollipops!

Hooray! I finished the appliqué for the lollipop quilt. I bought this kit during the very crazy 12 days of Christmas event at Fig Tree. Not sure who will receive this one but it will not be until Christmas. There are two borders needed to finish this one.

Fig tree Block of the Month

I am keeping up with all of my BOMs despite the week in Lancaster and classes in which I started new projects!!

Here is the Fig Tree update. Only one more for this batch.
And these are my April blocks for my two Hobo quilts.
My buddies are all at our guild's Quilt Camp today, I am going to see my grandson, Tyler in Seussical. He is playing Horton.

Hobo quilt decision

Before I get into this update I want to share Life Under Quilts as I continue to learn the ins and outs of this blogging thing. Today I learned how to create a hyperlink. Woohoo!

I mentioned earlier that I have two Hobo quilts going. The project is a BOM with the Huntington Quilters. I have decided to stop one and push ahead with the one I want to give Ben for Christmas. Here they are on my design board.

I am going to continue the second one done in Japanese taupe fabric. There are 36 blocks to go!

Catching up with my Pieceful QuiltingBOM and the Patchworks one also.

Of course both are made with Figtree fabric. Addicted.
